30th October - 2010 CAMDEN HORSE TRIALS
Shane Rose and his team at the Eventing Equestrian Equestriad produced a very good but low key event in the lead up to Adelaide which was well appreciated by all the riders. The courses were good, without being too tough and the ground was good thanks to consistent rain. In the 3 star Chris Burton remained on his dressage score to win on his 2008 Adelaide CCI**** Winner Newsprint. In a very close finish he hung on to beat Shane Rose on Taurus and Tim on GV Billy Elliot. It was a very close finish with these 3 horses all heading in different directions. Chris will try to repeat his Adelaide win from 2 years ago, Shane will spell Taurus now in preparation for next year and Tim will head to Lakes and Craters CCI*** to qualify Billy for Adelaide CCI**** next year.
In the 2** Judy Clarke was able to win on her dressage score on Diabilito having his first 2** start in a very strong field. Mercator Du Ry went terrific at his final start prior to Adelaide to finish 5th and Untouchable felt magnificent to finish 7th after uncharacteristically scoring poorly in the dressage. Untouchable will now spell as he is still 6 years old and has had a very busy season. Tim thinks he is a very special horse and does not want to rush him.
23rd October - WEEKEND WINNERS FROM LIMTLESS LODGE
On a day that produced two champions in So You Think and Black Caviar, Limitless Lodge produced two winners. Ridotto won for trainer Chris Waller and the Ingham family at his first start in a race at Kembla on Saturday. After almost being held up for the entire length of the straight, Ridotto burst through to claim victory. Ridotto has overcome many problems during his preparation for racing including a broken pelvis. Ridotto was pre trained on the aquaciser and spelled at Limitless Lodge. In fact Ridotto is back in the paddock as of Monday to spell.
The Last General won race 2 for trainer Clarrie Connors and The Derby Racing Syndicate convincingly after a good front running ride by Tommy Berry. The Last General was prepared for a return to racing on the aquaciser at Limitless Lodge after suffering a tendon strain early in his career.
20th October - NEW ZEALAND BLOODSTOCK BREEZE UP SALE
All of the horses to be sold later in November at the famous Karaka sale yard for the NZB breeze up sale were put through their paces this week and asked to breeze up over a furlong (200m). The quickest time recorded at just over 10 seconds was for the Encosta De Lago colt out of Foxwood. This colt was broken in and prepared for sale by Limitless Lodge for Coolmore Stud. With a combination of his smashing good looks, obvious ability and the best pedigree in the book it would be a surprise if he doesn’t top the sale.
18th October - GOULBURN HORSE TRIALS – NSW EVENTING CHAMPIONSHIPS
Goulburn Horse Trials is the home of Australia’s best one day event but also the home of almost always reliably despicable weather. This weekend produced snow, howling wind, sleet, rain and freezing temperatures. This didn’t deter Australia’s leading horses and riders who were all anxious for a final big hit out prior to Adelaide.
The CIC*** was unbelievably won yet again by Emma Mason on F1 Pharanelli. Emma defeated Chris Burton on Jaybee Calypso with Tim on GV Billy Elliot in 3rd. Katja Weiman on Pluto Mio was 4th with Heath Ryan and Mystery Whisper in 5th and Shane Rose on Taurus in 6th. The course was beautiful and big but all the good horses went well, with dressage and time on the cross country the deciding factors. Tim could not have been happier with the performance of Billy at only his second 3 star start. Billy will now aim at Lakes and Craters CCI*** in December.
Mercator Du Ry went well at his third run after a long spell. He finished 2nd behind Judy Clarke and the almost impossible to beat Diabilito. Mercator felt great and will now do the 2** at Camden October 30/31 and then finish the season with a run at Adelaide CIC**.
17th October - WEEKEND WINNERS FROM LIMTLESS LODGE
Maluckyday won for trainers M, W and J Hawkes and owner Nick Moriatis over 2400m at Randwick in devastating fashion which must have them thinking about the Melbourne Cup. Interesting to see if they proceed in that direction. Maluckyday was pre trained at Limitless Lodge prior to this preparation.
Captain Sweet won for trainer John Moore over 1200m at Sha Tin on Sunday to record his second win from 3 starts. This big strong gelding by Fastnet Rock was taken over to Hong Kong as part of the Subscription Draft in March 2009 for the Hong Kong Jockey Club. He has settled in very well and done an amazing job in a very short space of time. Captain Sweet was broken in, spelled, pre trained and prepared for sale by Limitless Lodge..
Redoute’s Star won for trainer Tony Cruz over 1200m at Sha Tin on Sunday. This very expensive son of Redoute’s Choice had so far been a disappointment but with the recent gelding operation his form has improved immeasurably. Redoute’s Star sold through the Hong Kong Jockey Club International Sale in December 2008 and was the top priced lot at just over $1AUS Million. Redoute’s Star, like all of the HKJC horses was broken in, spelled, pre trained and prepared for sale by Limitless Lodge.
9th October - WEEKEND WINNERS FROM LIMTLESS LODGE
Limitless Lodge had a very successful weekend with plenty of winners produced from the farm.
Kimilsy was able to win the 3rd race at Rosehill for trainer Kim Waugh. This was a fantastic result after two years away from the track with a tendon injury. Kimilsy was prepared for this campaign on the aquaciser and during the preparation comes weekly to use the aquaciser as part of her fitness program.
Solar Charged won the last race at Caulfield for trainer John O’Shea and prominent owner Peter Horwitz. With a brilliant front running ride by Nash Rawiller, this filly regained her 2yo form and outclassed a strong bunch of fillies with a dominant win. Solar Charged is pre trained at Limitless Lodge on the aquaciser like all of Peter Horwitz’s horses.
Divya was able to win a 1200m maiden at Hawkesbury on Sunday for trainer Bart Cummings and owners Wynyarra Pastoral Co. This big strong filly has got plenty more wins left in her for the spring. Divya was broken in and is always pre trained at Limitless Lodge.
Sir Gwynn won a class 2 over 2250m at Hawkesbury on Sunday for trainer David Payne and owner John Cordina. This beautiful straight forward horse has relished the rise in distance recently and has become most consistent. Sir Gwynn was broken in at Limitless Lodge and spells after each preparation at the farm.
Gopana was able to win the last race at Hawkesbury on Sunday for trainer John Hawkes and owners Wynyarra Pastoral Co. This was her second start in a race and showed big improvement. Gopana was broken in and is always pre trained at Limitless Lodge. The runner up in this race, The Verminator, was also broken in and is always pre trained at the farm for Chris Waller.
5th October - DISAPPOINTMENT FOR AUSTRALIAN EVENTING TEAM AT WORLD EQUESTRIAN GAMES
Australia failed to complete as a team in a major shock where everything that could go wrong did go wrong. It all began with the withdrawal of our leading combination of Megan Jones and Kirby Park Irish Jester with travel sickness.
Stuart Tinney and last year’s Adelaide CCI**** winner Vettori were by far our best result, finishing in individual 8th with a great dressage and clear cross country and showjumping.
Paul Tapner and this year’s Badminton winner Inonothing had to retire after going lame on the cross country. In a major blow it has been revealed that he suffered a fractured stifle and will be on box rest but is expected to make a full recovery.
Sam Griffiths and Happy Times, highest placed after dressage in 10th had a stop and fall which resulted in instant elimination.
Peter Atkins on Henry Jota Hampton had a huge personal best with a double clear and a final result of 24th.
Chris Burton didn’t have a great week. A disappointing test was followed with 2 stops on the cross country and 1 rail showjumping to finish in overall 48th.
Sonja Johnson and Ringwould Jaguar were withdrawn after going clear cross country with a serious leg infection that has resulted in Jaguar’s immediate retirement after a fantastically successful career.
Individually, the new sensation from Germany Michael Jung jumped clear to retain his commanding lead and win the Gold Medal from William Fox Pitt and Andrew Nicholson. In the team competition Great Britain won Gold with Canada in Silver and New Zealand in Bronze.
All eyes now turn to London in 2012.
4th October - WEEKEND WINNERS FROM LIMTLESS LODGE
Another big weekend of winner produced by Tim and his team at Limitless Lodge:
Hot Danish, for trainer Les Bridge and jockey Tim Clark, over came a wet track and a torrid run to just prevail in the Group 2 The Shorts at Randwich in Saturday. This tough mare is an absolute superstar with a desperate will to win and will now proceed to Melbourne for the Group One Myer Classic over 1600m at Flemington. Hot Danish was broken in, spelled and pre trained at Limitless Lodge.
Defiant Dame scored an absolutely dominant win in the Gimcrack Stakes over 1000m, being the first 2 years old race of the season in NSW. This time honoured event was easily won by Defiant Dame for king of the 2 year olds trainer David Payne and very successful owners Les Samba and Ron Medich. This filly will now be prepared for the Magic Millions 2 yo race in January. Defiant Dame was broken in at Limitless Lodge.
Bassoon scored at his 3rd start for trainer Gai Waterhouse and owners Reavill Farm at Newcastle over 1500m on Saturday. This slow developing son of Redoute’s Choice has taken time and racing to show his true talents. Hopefully he will really kick on now and show what he is really capable of. Bassoon was pre trained at Limitless Lodge prior to this preparation.
Gathering won the last race at Flemington on Turnbull Stakes Day for the Patinack team in a courageous front running display that broke the hearts of those chasing in what was a high class race. Gathering was broken in by Tim for the Patinack team. Interestingly, the dam of Gathering, Celebria, has a very forward 2 year old that was also broken in by Tim and has won a trial that will be racing soon. In the same batch of breakers was a ¾ sister to today’s Turnbull Stakes winner Zipping. This filly is by Fastnet Rock out of Social Scene and is already with trainer Mark Kavanagh for owner John Camilleri of Fairway Thoroughbreds.
Upon This Rock won at Warwick Farm on bank holiday Monday for trainer Gai Waterhouse, jockey Nash Rawiller and owner Laurie Macri. This strong daughter of Fastnet Rock carried 59kg and sat outside the speed and careered away to win by a widening 3 ½ length. Upon This Rock was spelled and pre trained at Limitless Lodge prior to this preparation.
See The World won at Warwick Farm over 1000m for trainer Joe Pride, jockey Grant Buckley and owner Peter Horwitz. This tough son of Danzero was totally dominant after a sluggish start and circling the field on a wet track. See The World is always pretrained on the aquacizer at Limitless Lodge like all of Peter Horwitz’s horses.
